Street art is usually meant to stand out and get our attention, but the artists on this list use a special technique that makes their unique art even more eye-catching and fun: they adapt their art to its surroundings so that their (usually 2D) paintings seem to interact with their 3D surroundings.
You can’t just paint a stencil or a piece of graffiti art anywhere you like. The fact that they can come up with these great ideas shows how wild their imaginations are. Where we see a vine, a brick wall, or a railing, these artists see a chance to make an art installation that will make us think or smile.
There are artists who do this kind of work all the time. Oak Oak, Banksy, and Ernestas Zachareviius are just a few artists who make awesome interactive art on a regular basis. By “interactive,” I mean that the art interacts directly with its environment and less directly with us, the viewers.
Street artists aren’t the only ones who know the value of cool art that interacts with its surroundings. These brilliant ambient advertisements were also made with this goal in mind.
Here, we’ve put together some of the best of them for you to enjoy.
