“Brought up in the wild and set free, it keeps coming back to me!” This is how Boston, Massachusetts, resident Patty Robinson tells her Instagram followers about the squirrel she found in her garden and named Bunk.
Patty and her little wild friend became friends when she saw the animal while looking out the window of her kitchen. The woman went outside to find out what was going on and saw that the squirrel was still a baby! Patty looked for her mom or siblings on the property for about 45 minutes, but she couldn’t find anyone. Then she knew she had to help raise this cute animal to eventually set him free. But Bunk doesn’t seem to want to leave anytime soon and is still enjoying his time with his wonderful savior.

Bunk was in Patty’s yard, which she told Bored Panda. When the woman went outside to check it out, she saw that the squirrel’s eyes were still closed. This told Patty that it was a baby squirrel.
The woman looked for 45 minutes but couldn’t find a mother, children, or nest.
Since there was no sign of the squirrel’s mother or siblings, Patty decided to raise it herself with the plan of letting it go one day.

“The first time I picked him up, he melted in my hands. I put him in my pocket and told him, “You just fell asleep.” That’s how I knew what his name was. So, I told him, I guess I’ll have to call you Bunk. I thought, Raising a squirrel can’t be that hard, can it? I did use the Internet, where some things were true and some were not. “
Patty told us( bored Panda) that, in general, she has always helped people. “As a foster parent, it was my job to help people. I took care of a grackle blackbird and set it free. In the end, that grackle I called “hey baby” really saved me. I did set Bunk free. He had been missing for five days! He went back home, scared and growling. I tried again three times, but he wouldn’t go!
“I fell in love with him the day I picked him up off the lawn.”

Squirrels do not make good pets. They make a mess, are expensive, can bite, need their room, and so on. He wouldn’t leave, and I wasn’t going to give up on him! ” ” Bunk hurt his paw, so I built him ramps and put tubes in the room so he could run around safely. As an artist, it was fun for me to build him a treehouse and a tree sculpture out of his favorite kinds of wood.

Patty turned her house into a squirrel “playground” for Bunk so he could have as much fun and comfort as possible when he was inside.

I built him a nest and nesting boxes! He would use some of these things, but not others. The room where Bunk sleeps is in his room, not mine. I can’t do anything different. If I walk around his room, he follows me and watches me, so I’m not making any changes. I can sneak something small into his room and he’ll figure it out right away. I did build a cage for him. That cage’s door is always open. “Squirrels do not belong in cages!”

Patty said everything she learned about squirrels as a child turned out to be false. “Squirrels eat a lot of different things, not just acorns. They eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. Raccoons don’t have rabies, and squirrels can’t get it either. People aren’t as friendly as squirrels. They are great builders, and every year they plant a lot of trees. They care a lot about their families.

It’s great to love a squirrel, and it’s a blessing to be loved by one. I don’t know if he or I help each other more every day. He does make me a better person. He showed me how to connect more with nature. Even though we don’t talk, we understand each other. People have a lot more in common with squirrels than they think.
“Bunk is loving, cuddly, and he and I are very very close”

Even though Bunk could leave, he chooses to live with Patty in her house that looks like a jungle.
