Kawasaki is a Japanese city between Tokyo and Yokohama. It is known for its heavy industry, open-air folk museum, and one of the country’s biggest and most colourful Halloween parties.
Amazing Jiro, a body painter and SFX makeup expert, has sent his students to the 22nd annual Halloween parade in Kawasaki this year. About 2,000 people dressed up in costumes marched through the streets while 120,000 excited people took photos and videos of the scary crowd. But Amazing Jiro’s six kids stood out the most. Together, they dressed up as some of the most famous works of art in the world. For this, they got the Pumpkin Award and 500,000 yen, which is about $4,400.
The works of art picked were Behold the Man by Elias Garca Martnez, The Weeping Woman by Pablo Picasso, Girl with a Pearl Earring by Johannes Vermeer, Vincent van Gogh’s self-portrait, Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, and The Scream by Edvard Munch. Keep reading to find out who they are!
