If you’ve ever been to a wax museum, you know that even the most realistic models can be a little scary. But when wax figures are just a little bit wrong, it adds a whole new level of creepiness or humor, depending on how you look at it. And the Louis Tussaud’s House of Wax in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, is known for having wax models that are so bad they’re funny.
Over the years, the museum has become something of a tourist trap for all the wrong reasons. People would come from all over the world to see some of the funniest wax models ever made. Check out the picture below to see the museum’s collection of hilariously bad wax figures, from Mussolini, who looks like he’s been punched in the face, to The Beatles, who look like a group of Mormons about to knock on your door.

Jane and Peter Hayes, who had run the attraction for 50 years, shut it down in October 2012. The pieces were sold to a mysterious Czech buyer, whose taste is sure to be unique. Jane, who is 83 years old, told the Mirror, “All the models, machines, and frames sold at once.” But the lady has no idea who the man is.

Peter ran the museum for 57 years. In 2008, he said that the models were no longer like real people because they were so old. The Daily Mail says that it cost about $1,245 to make each figure. At the sale, the whole collection was said to be worth up to $14,943, but it’s not clear how much the buyer paid for it.

The museum was on Regent Road, and it was named after Madame Tussaud’s great-grandson. The BBC says that, in addition to the Hayeses, it had three full-time employees. People on Trip Advisor said they were sad that the museum was closing. “It will be sorely missed,” one user said. The other one said it was a “sad loss” and that “Yarmouth will never be the same…”
