No one knows how to draw when they are born. Childish scribbles take a while to become simple drawings that look like something you can recognize. The same is true for drawing hyper-realistic pictures, which take a lot longer to learn than simple stick figures. It takes a lot of hard work and care over many hours.
Rafael Konishi, from So Paulo, Brazil, is one of the few people who has spent a lot of time learning just that. And the result is so real that it puts photos to shame, which is saying something since taking photos doesn’t take that much work. But the results of this hard work can’t be denied. Thousands of people enjoy and respect them, and they’re known as real works of art.
Here’s what the artist had to say about his journey in the arts: “I’ve been drawing since I was a kid, but I drew a lot of manga. I first tried realistic drawing in 2013, but in 2017 I really got better. Since then, I’ve tried to improve at this art I love so much.” In exchange for his love of realistic art, people love his works just as much, as his 5.9k Instagram fans show.
Rafael even gave advice to the people who read this article: “If you want to draw realistically, be very patient.” He said that he decided to try drawing realistically because he likes to make shapes with pencils.
He doesn’t care too much about the subject. “I don’t have a favorite thing to draw. I like to do anything that challenges me when I see a picture that catches my eye.” He is sure that he will do what he loves most in the future. “I want to keep looking for images that push me to do better and better,” he said.
