Most people walk up and down stairs several times a day. You probably don’t think much about stairs, whether you live in a two-story house, work on the fifth floor of an office building, or live in a city with lots of hills and stairs to climb. But I’m sure we all know that feeling when you accidentally trip while walking down them or think you’ve hit the last step a little too soon, and your heart skips a beat and your life flashes before your eyes. Going up or down stairs can be the most boring thing you do all day or the scariest thing on an otherwise normal and safe day.

If you want to know about all of the most dangerous and scary stairs in the world, the Death Stairs Facebook group is for you. The members of this group, whose clever name we can’t get enough of, share pictures of the most dangerous staircases they can find. From very long steps that wind up mountains to stairs with crazy patterns on the carpet that will make your eyes hurt, these dangerous-looking works of art take a lot of courage to try. Here are some of the strangest death stairs we could find.
