Celebrity pictures being made fun of online have been a trend for a while now. Everyone from the well-known Australian comedian Celeste Barber to a 44-year-old engineer from India seems to want to poke fun at the unachievable celebrity lifestyle. EMI, or Emanuele Ferrari, isn’t an exception. Since he started posting in 2014, this Italian guy has gotten over 660k followers on Instagram for his hilarious remakes of famous photos. Emanuele’s funny shots of celebrity style made from things he finds at home make everyone laugh. For example, he recreated Cardi B’s famous Met Gala look with rice cakes and made Rihanna’s red carpet dress out of carrots.
Emanuele says that the outfits worn by celebrities at fashion shows were what first got him interested in starting the business. “I noticed that some clothes in the fashion world were really weird, so I made my own versions of them with the materials I had at home. So I decided to sign up and go crazy,” he told Bored Panda. Ferrari also said that the famous Kardashian family and the Italian blogger Chiara Ferragni are his biggest sources of influence. With so many looks to copy and a lot of people doing it, Emanuele thought there was a simple explanation for why so many people liked his funny photos. “On the Internet, irony goes viral,” he said, pointing to his own clever message. Even though everyone is watching him, Ferrari is only doing this job as a hobby because he has to spend time at university. “I don’t know exactly where all of this will lead me, but for now, it’s something I really enjoy doing,” he said.
